£25,000 worth of pies stolen in Yorkshire

Tommy Banks, chef-patron of The Abbey Inn (winner of our Best Sunday Roast 2024) The Black Swan and Roots has appealed to the public after a van containing 2,500 pies destined for his pop-up pie shop at York Christmas market was stolen on Monday. The van has since been recovered with the pies but they were not salveagable for sale. This is the second high profile food robbery this autumn, not long after 22 tonnes of cheese were stolen from Neal’s Yard in October.


74 Charlotte Street to open in Fitzrovia

Monica Galetti announced the closure of Mere back in April and it has now been announced that WSH Restaurants will be opening 74 Charlotte Street on the site in the new year. Other restaurants in the WSH group include Best Local Restaurant The Woodspeen, The Sparsholt and The Clockspire. This will be the group’s first London venue.

Socca Mayfair closed

Samyukta Nair and Claude Bosi announced the closure of their Mayfair restaurant Socca with immediate effect over the weekend. The duo will continue with other restaurant projects. Samyukta has recently opened Nipotina across the way from Socca, and Claude and Lucy Bosi are opening a second Josephine on the former Daylesford Organic site in Marylebone.
