Chefs on the move

Northcote has welcomed new head chef Simon Ulph (ex-Climat and Source at Gilpin Hotel) to the Ribble Valley restaurant with rooms. In Edinburgh, Timberyard announced over the weekend that they will be parting ways with head chef James Murray. It is not yet known who will replace him – at Timberyard or their more casual outpost, Montrose.


Shutting up shop

After 16 years of trading, Mark Hix will close his Lyme Regis restaurant The Oyster and Fish House on 7th December. It will be taken over by Mitch Tonks who plans to open another Rockfish outlet. In Scotland, Edinburgh’s Ondine will close after service on New Year’s Eve. A move to a new location is planned in the new year, in addition to a second outlet at Seaton House Hotel. In London, Leroy had their last service on Saturday 16th November, after which they took to Instagram to announce 'Leroy is no more'.



Josh & Holly Eggleton open The Pelican in Chew Magna

From the team behind The Pony Chew Valley comes a second Chew Magna venue - just a five-minute drive or 40-minute walk across the fields. The Pelican aims to be an extension of the siblings’ vision for The Pony, and is now open for locals and visitors as a pub. An additional ten bedrooms will open in spring 2025.
