Purnell's closes after 17 years

Since launching in 2007, local hero Glynn Purnell’s 'inventiveness, sense of humour, proud Brummieness and devotion to detail,' had been at the heart of his flagship restaurant Purnell's. Citing a combination of economic pressures and the ongoing challenges faced by the hospitality industry as reasons for closure, the restaurant had its final service on Saturday 12 October.


Where The Light Gets In pops up in city centre

Stockport's Where The Light Gets In is popping up in Manchester city centre for the first time while the original site undergoes extensive maintenance work. Running for five months from November, the residency will comprise several iterations, including a concept restaurant and a fast food pop up as well as a programme of events including a Q&A with Douglas McMaster of Silo, and more.



Rubedo closing after nearly a decade

Best Local Restaurant Rubedo has announced it will be closing after nine years on Stoke Newington's Church Street. Co-owners Lorenzo and Federico will run their restaurant as usual until their last service on Saturday 26th October when they will be having an all day celebration with DJs, snacks and discounted wine. The space will be passed on to Korean pop-up Cálong, for whom this will be their first permanent space.



Sebb's to open in Glasgow

Glasgow restaurant group Scoop will open underground bar and restaurant Sebb's in Glasgow on Monday 25th November. From the founders of Ka Pao, Ox and Finch and the newly opened Margo, Sebb's is an underground bar and restaurant focusing on late night cocktails and food cooked over fire. Head chef Danny Carruthers brings experience from Le Chardon d'Or as well as stages at Acme Fire Cult, Le Gavroche and Lyle's.
