Osma ups sticks from Prestwich
One of the first contemporary restaurants to open in gastronomically re-energised Prestwich Osma has announced it will close on 9th February. Co-owners Danielle Heron and Sofie Stoermann-Nas, said a lack of experienced staff led to their decision to close their Nordic inspired kitchen-bar. Their aim is to find a new restaurant site in Manchester city centre, whilst their pop-up kitchen at Exhibition on Peter Street remains open.
Patrick Powell heads to east London pub
After making his name at Stratford restaurant Allegra over five years and following it up with a spell at The Midland Grand Dining Room, Irish chef Patrick Powell has teamed up with hotshot partners James Dye (The Camberwell Arms) and Benjy Leibowitz to take on a Victorian pub in Shoreditch. The Knave of Clubs will serve rotisserie chicken and bar snacks in the downstairs pub, while upstairs Patrick Powell will run One Club Row as a restaurant proper.
Ripon Local Gem to close
Ripon’s charming French-style bistro Tartine Lounge (formerly Vanora’s Bakery) has closed with immediate effect due to the increasing stresses of running a restaurant. With Vanora having already passed a portion of the business into new hands, there’s hope the bar will remain open for trading.
