St Enodoc Hotel acquired by Ainsworths
Paul and Emma Ainsworth have acquired their sixth venue in Cornwall. The St Enodoc Hotel, which enjoys views over the Camel Estuary from its position in Rock, is the latest to join The Ainsworth Collection and comprises a restaurant and 21 bedrooms. Southampton-born chef Paul Ainsworth and his wife Emma also run Paul Ainsworth at No.6 among several other venues on the north Cornwall coast, including Caffè Rojano, Padstow Townhouse, Ci Ci’s Bar and The Mariners.
The Seafood Restaurant celebrates 50 years with 1975 menu
Rick Stein's family-run flagship is one of the heritage addresses of British gastronomy. The Seafood Restaurant celebrates its golden anniversary this year and in what is becoming a trend in major restaurant anniversaries, menu prices are reverting back to 1975 prices, from Thursday 6th until Sunday 9th February, including shellfish soup for 50p and grilled lobster for £2.80. Opening in Edinburgh
A new farm-to-table restaurant is opening in Edinburgh’s Stockbridge neighbourhood on Wednesday 29th January. Moss is the debut restaurant from Henry Dobson, who has assembled a team from restaurants including The Ledbury, Pollen Street Social and Heron. The menu will combine Japanese influences with Scottish produce, much of which will come from Dobson’s family farm in Angus.
Closures
Also from Edinburgh comes the news that Tom Kitchin will close his Bruntsfield neighbourhood bistro Kora at the end of January due to the economic climate. In Haughton, Staffordshire, popular pub The Nags Head have also cited rising economic pressures for their closure with immediate effect. Their sister venues Mackie Mayor, The Picturedrome Macclesfield and Altrincham Market will remain open. In London, the latest casualty is Cafe Britaly which has closed after just eight months in Peckham.
