Catching up with Inn at the Sticks: Wales' Best Local Restaurant 2024
Published 19 August 2024

Teej Sparks is the co-founder of Wales’ Best Local Restaurant 2024, Inn at the Sticks. How have they been celebrating the win? The Good Food Guide finds out.

You are Wales' Best Local Restaurant, but where’s your favourite local restaurant?

My favourite local restaurant would be The Warren in Carmarthen

How have you been celebrating your win?

Working to be honest, we have been super busy since the announcement, so it has been all hands-on deck. We intend to celebrate on 8th September when we will be holding a staff party.

If money was no object, where would you book a table?

Ynyshir in Machynlleth.

Where is your favourite cheap eat?

The Pizza Bar in Llansteffan.

If you came in to eat at your own restaurant, what would you order?

Any dish off the specials board as they are super special.

Tell us something people don’t know about your restaurant.

It has been an Inn since 1804. In one of our rooms, we found a secret doorway that led into the house next door, so during prohibition times people used to go into next door so they could drink in the bar.

Where are you most excited to try in your neighbourhood?

Y Barbican, a new small plates bar in Carmarthen.

What is your go to post-service treat?

A glass of albarino.
