When Le Gavroche decamped from Lower Sloane Street to Upper Brook Street in 1981, leaving a little unexpired lease for the Roux brothers to play with, Gavvers was born.
Think about restaurants and family, and the Roux name springs to mind. The story of the pioneering brothers, their children Alain (The Waterside Inn, Bray), Michel Jr., and his daughter Emilie (Caractère, Notting Hill) has been told often. So too has the Stein story. Rick Stein and Jill Stein’s three sons Ed, Jack and Charlie are all directors of the Stein restaurant empire.
