Former Ledbury chef at the helm of new ‘low-waste’ restaurant
A former chef from The Ledbury and The Dairy is to head up the kitchen of a new all-day restaurant in London. Richard Falk will use ‘low-waste’ ingredients on the menu at Lino, which is located in a former linoleum and carpet warehouse behind Smithfield Market close to St Bart’s Hospital. Dishes on the lunch and dinner menu will include sauerkraut and Montgomery cheddar croquettes, and Belted Galloway wing rib of beef, with oxtail and potato tart, for two to share. Lino opens on November 9.
André Garrett to leave Cliveden House for the Corinthia
André Garrett is leaving Cliveden House after five years to become the executive chef at London’s Corinthia Hotel. When he joins in January, Garrett will oversee the hotel’s food and beverage operations including the Northall restaurant, but not the flagship Kerridge’s Bar & Grill which Tom Kerridge opened last month. Before Cliveden House, Garret worked at Galvin at Windows and Orrery in Marylebone.
Cambridge restaurant Alimentum closes suddenly
Alimentum in Cambridge has closed its doors with immediate effect. The restaurant had reportedly run into financial trouble in recent months and its former chef-patron, Mark Poynton, left earlier in the year and replaced by Samira Effa.
Ex-Oldroyd chef to host truffle supper at Paddington pub
Paddington pub The Cleveland Arms is to host a special truffle supper next month. Head chef Louis Lingwood, who previously worked at Oldroyd, will showcase the prized ingredient in a number of dishes for the meal on November 17, tickets for which cost £45. To book, email hello@theclevelandarms.com.
