Henry Harris to open fourth London pub before the end of the year
Henry Harris has announced plans to open a fourth London pub with business partner James McCulloch’s Harcourt Inns. The Harlot in Chiswick will serve daily changing menus of Mediterranean inspired dishes ‘with Sicilian inflections’. Open seven days a week, with beers from local breweries as well a range of wines and French spirits, The Harlot will have up to 120 covers. This fourth opening from Harris and McCulloch follows on from the Coach in Clerkenwell, the Hero of Maida in Maida Vale and Three Cranes in the City. Named after William Hogarth’s Harlot’s Progress paintings, The Harlot on Chiswick High Road is expected to open in November.
Former River Cafe and Rochelle Canteen chef to take over stoves of Clapton wine bar
Former River Cafe and Rochelle Canteen chef Anna Tobias has been named as the next chef-in-residence at P.Franco in Clapton. Tobias, who takes over from George Tomlin on September 27, will cook dinner Thursday to Saturday and Sunday lunch at the bar and wine shop for the six months. The menus have yet to be revealed but Tobias has said they will be ingredient-driven European dishes and include soups, stews and seasonal puddings.
Vinoteca closes the doors of its Soho site
Vinoteca has closed its Soho restaurant due to restrictions to its licence and soaring rents. The wine-focussed restaurant chain still has sites in the City, King's Cross, Farringdon, Marylebone and Chiswick.
