Founders Will Beckett and Huw Gott plan to open a new site in a former Bank of Ireland building on College Green.

There were hopes to hold off any announcement until the launch was further down the line, but a planning application was picked up by The Times.

Plans for the restaurant were lodged with Dublin city council last week which ask to change the building’s use from a retail space - it was formerly an Abercrombie & Fitch store - to a licensed restaurant.

Hawksmoor’s Dublin opening is likely to follow the group’s next premises in Liverpool, which is scheduled for the end of this year.

The steakhouse, founded in 2006, has grown rapidly in recently years. There are now restaurants in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and New York.
