Above shops in Towngate and decorated in rich colours with a hotchpotch of scrubbed pine tables and mismatched chairs, this contemporary restaurant offers brunch, lunch and dinner menus. Expect anything from generous platters of shakshuka with spicy Greek yoghurt, Yorkshire buck rarebit or eggs Benedict to a creamy roast pumpkin and goat’s cheese risotto or a venison burger with smoked Cheddar, plum and blackberry ketchup and chunky, skin-on chips. The short, fairly priced wine list includes 10 by the glass. Note that the restaurant is reached via some high steps and cobbles, and there are steep stairs from a lounge/bar area to the two dining spaces.
