Follow your nose down the lanes of east Suffolk to discover 'crullers' – flighty, fresh-fried choux-pastry doughnuts prepared by chef Alice Norman (ex-Clipstone and Emilia in London). They are the speciality at this little café on organic Maple Farm, simply glazed with a scattering of cinnamon sugar or with a seasonal topping such as fig leaf and sesame. The coffee is superb too, and in season they serve their gelato in homemade spelt cones – St Jude cheese and blackcurrant ripple, anyone? No savoury food at the moment, but hopefully in 2024.
