If you're looking for a genuine New York-style pizza in Manchester, this pioneering family-run spot is the place to visit. Nell's specialises in 14-inch and 22-inch whoppers served whole or by the slice, and the owners pay attention to the details – buying from accredited British producers, slow-fermenting their dough for 36 hours and offering seasonal twists on the classics: try the OG cheese version or the ‘Sidewalk’ (crushed tomato, salsa verde, red onion, vegan ‘nduja, roasted peppers and artichoke). For afters, sweeten the deal with one of Nell’s ice-cream sandwiches. Service is swift, the Common bar is great for socialising and there’s seating outside throughout the summer.
