The farm shop at this popular spot just outside Holt is a feast of temptations: a spring visit found fresh-as-a-daisy early asparagus, and the first Norfolk strawberries, plus a deli counter laden with locally made pork pies, cheeses, meat and organic produce. Just as tempting is the café in the airy brick barn, where you could tuck into a breakfast (until 11.45am) of sausages from the butcher’s slab with black pudding, streaky bacon and the rest, or lunchtime options including smoked Norfolk Dapple arancini with butternut squash purée, a packed fish pie or a ploughman’s board with deli items and homemade piccalilli. The garden is a pretty, lavender-filled space in summer.
