A first look at Cornus: a tasteful destination with potential
Cornus, the second restaurant from the owners of Medlar in Chelsea, isn’t in the most obvious of locations. As you walk along Eccleston Place, look for a large number 27 wall sign then head down the alley next to it. Turn right into the courtyard and you’ll immediately see the restaurant’s name in large white letters over the covered doorway to the Ice Factory building, a renovated warehouse in the Eccleston Yards development. Follow the signs down the corridor to the lift where the button for the top floor is clearly marked ‘Cornus’.

Where to eat along the River Thames
‘The Thames was all gold,’ wrote the Impressionist painter Claude Monet. ‘God it was beautiful, so fine that I began to work in a frenzy, following the sun and its reflections on the water.’ The river Thames, may not always elicit quite so passionate a response, but there’s no denying this 215-mile waterway provides the south of England with some of its most picturesque views. What better way to appreciate it than over lunch at one of the restaurants that line its banks?
