Almond Thief

Devon, Dartington - Bakery & Café

Tucked away among the industrial units of Webber’s Yard, this bakery and café may look a little makeshift but when the shutters roll up, the baked goods fly off the racks. Decadent pain suisse and sticky bay and orange 'morning buns' are superb examples of the viennoiserie line-up. Meanwhile the daily loaves, which range from sprouted rye to a sesame sourdough, are packed with flavour from house-milled local heritage grains such as cornovii to flour from the South West Grain Network. The coffee is good too, and a seat at one of the mismatched tables and benches offers a show of busy bakers at work. A second outpost can be found in Plymouth.
