Pip Lacey announces launch of Hicce X Wolf & Badger
Pip Lacey, former head chef at Angela Hartnett's Murano, has announced her first solo venture alongside her long-time friend and business partner Gordy McIntyre. Hicce (pronounced ee-che) is due to open in October 2018 at the Wolf & Badger store at King's Cross development Coal Drops Yard. Pip will use traditional techniques to create dishes inspired by her travels. Expect homemade rye bread with seasonal cheese, cured meats and pickles, and fish, meat and yakitori cooked over specialist holm-oak charcoal.
Tom Kitchin to open fourth restaurant
Tom Kitchin has announced a fourth venue in his Kitchin group of restaurants. Southside Scran will open in November in the Bruntsfield area of Edinburgh. Headed up by chef Craig McKenzie, the restaurant will feature an open rotisserie, with a menu focused on local produce alongside a daily seafood selection.
James Cochran leaves James Cochran EC3 to start new venture
Chef James Cochran has left his self-titled restaurant James Cochran EC3 for a new venture in Islington. Opening at the end of August on the former site of the troubled modern Chinese restaurant the Chinese Laundry, 1251 will be open all day, serving a menu influenced by Cochran's Scottish and West-Indian heritage.
Tamarind Mayfair appoints new chefs
Ahead of reopening in October following a £4 million refurbishment, Tamarind has appointed chefs Karunesh Khanna and Manav Tuli. Executive chef Karunesh previously headed up the kitchen at Amaya in Knightsbridge and head chef Manav joins him from Chutney Mary.
