The new project is backed by Birmingham-based restaurant group About Dining, owned by Sheridan and husband-and-wife team Sam and Emma Morgan. The group’s other restaurants include Craft Dining Rooms and the concisely named ‘8’, Sheridan’s 'immersive chef’s table' that makes use of light, sound, taste and smell to 'create an unconventional dining experience.'
By contrast, Black & Green is described as an intimate, convivial and relaxed space, promising to bring a European feeling to the Midlands – ‘Black’ in the restaurant's name was chosen to symbolise a commitment to the classic, while ‘Green' denotes sustainability. Diners will be seated in the heart of the open kitchen, with clear views of the former Great British Menu chef leading his team.
The tasting menu is priced at £55 for five courses and £65 for six, with dishes such as beef and root tartare, jumbo plaice with buttermilk sauce, and chocolate and cherry pie. A creative drinks pairing is offered for £55, inclucing Camel Valley pilsner and a hazelnut chocolate wine.
Black & Green opens on June 9 and reservations are now open.
